- Verizon has shaken up its executive leadership for wireless, fiber and core
- It appointed longtime veteran Adam Koeppe to head a new Core Engineering and Operations organization
- The move comes after Verizon announced significant layoffs
Verizon’s new CEO Dan Schulman isn’t wasting any time getting the wheels of transformation rolling. Shortly after announcing a hefty round of layoffs, it appears the company has reorganized its internal structure and tapped a trio of Verizon veterans to lead the charge across wireless, fiber and core networks.
News of the changes first appeared on LinkedIn in a series of posts from the newly appointed executives.
Adam Koeppe, who has spent more than two decades at Verizon, most recently as SVP of Technology Planning, Capital and Maintenance Engineering, is now Chief Network Officer, Core, leading the company’s new Core Engineering and Operations (CE&O) organization.
According to Koeppe, CE&O will focus on delivering “unmatched reliability and resilience, optimizing the network to fuel growth, and defining and providing next-generation security.” He added it is also tasked with ensuring the network “is intelligent, reliable, and secure enough to power the next wave of innovation, including 5G and beyond.”
Additionally, Srini Kalapala is now Chief Network Officer, Wireless, and Lynn Cox is Chief Network Officer, Fiber. Kalapala was previously Chief Product Development Officer and Cox was Chief Network Officer.
"This new role places me directly at the intersection of technology and the customer experience every single moment of every day," Kalapala wrote. "Here in the Wireless Networks group, we are obsessively focused on the fundamentals—wireless engineering, optimization, and operations—to drive speed, efficiency, and consistency across everything we do."
Cox, meanwhile, said her group is tasked with building the "most powerful and reliable broadband connectivity in the industry."
The changes comes less than a month after Verizon revealed plans to layoff around 13,000 workers.
It is not yet clear what, if anything, they mean for Verizon CTO Yago Tenorio and Joseph Russo, who has been Verizon's President of Global Networks and Technology since March 2023. Neither posted to LinkedIn about the changes.
