On Oct. 6, Lyte Fiber announced a major, private investment of more than $2 million in the City of Jefferson to bring a multi-gigabit, all-fiber network to homes and businesses across the city. The Texas-based company is building a best-in-class network designed for speed, reliability and resilience.
“We’re bringing more than just fast internet to Jefferson — we’re delivering a next-generation network critical to support education, healthcare, and economic development,” said Carter Old, CEO of Lyte Fiber. “Our mission is to connect Jefferson with resilient, high-performance fiber-optic internet service that promotes growth and innovation for decades to come.”
Designed with speed and durability in mind, Lyte’s network will be capable of speeds up to 10 Gbps, and features buried main lines and multiple levels of redundancy to ensure Jefferson stays connected, even when the power goes out. The Texas-strong network is designed, built, and operated by Texans for Texans.
Construction has begun, with the first customers expected to be online mid-October. The initial phase involves deploying 23 miles of fiber optic cable to service more than 1,550 homes and businesses, and Lyte plans to expand from there. Customers will enjoy top-tier customer service, with a Texas-based customer service center.
Lyte Fiber’s privately funded Jefferson network complements the company’s previously announced public/private partnership with the State of Texas to construct a fiber network primarily serving unincorporated Marion County. Once both projects are complete, Lyte Fiber will have more than 280 miles of fiber optic cable throughout Marion County.
As part of its commitment to community impact, Lyte has pledged a 1 percent giveback to support local charities and organizations each year, helping fund programs that directly benefit local families.
“Giving back is part of our DNA,” Old said. “When Jefferson prospers, we all do.”
Lyte’s expansion is led by a veteran executive team with over 200 years of telecom experience. Lyte’s mission is to deliver reliable, high-speed internet to communities that have long been underserved or overlooked.
